Job Purpose

The principal purpose of this role is to support the business with all aspects of Information Technology services, delivering maximum benefit and value for the business.  Always working in accordance with legislation, procedures and guidelines, you will work with the Head of Technology and our IT suppliers to deliver comprehensive IT service delivery for Horizon Platforms.


  • Teamwork:

    • Work closely with all members of the team to ensure an efficient and professional IT service.
    • Support and assist colleagues through promotion of existing emerging technology awareness across management and the wider team. 
    • Keep lines of communication with other areas of the business clear and effective at all times.
    • Continually improve systems to make it easier to work in ways which support business goals. 
    • Identify and shape new and creative IT initiatives in terms of product or service developments, generating acceptance and enthusiasm for them within the Company by enhancing the user experience. 
    • Support the design and co-ordination of relevant training and development activities to ensure that colleagues are fully competent in their use of IT.
    • Work flexibly, helping with reasonable ad hoc duties as required.


    • Support effective systems and procedures to help leverage management information for the purpose of business planning, performance measurement and customer service enhancement.
    • Establish and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the hiring and powered access sectors and IT trends generally, and ensure that the company is suitably aligned.
    • Demonstrate the Company Values in everything you do.
    • Respect all colleagues and customers, being polite and courteous at all times.


    • Focus on continual improvement and standardisation of processes and systems across the Horizon team, supporting the continued availability, effectiveness and safety of the infrastructure.
    • Support with the management of IT assets (hardware, software, network and user knowledge) within the business, aiming to optimise the total cost of ownership.  
    • Continuously update your own technical knowledge and monitor emerging technology such as hardware, software and communication technologies, products, methods and techniques whilst assessing their relevance and potential value to Horizon Platforms.
    • Always ensure compliance to relevant legislation, including but not limited to General Data Protection Regulations, Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, the Computer Misuse Act, Malicious Communications Act and Digital Economy Act.

Skills Required

    • Experience of providing IT support
    • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems
    • Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner
    • Attention to detail 
    • Understanding of basic networking principles (IP, TCP, DNS, etc.)
    • Ability to communicate effectively with both colleagues and users
    • Proactive and willing to use own initiative
