Job Purpose

Horizon Platforms is looking for a high-energy and dynamic Sales Development Representative to provide pre-sales insight and support. In this important role within the Company, you will be primarily tasked with turning leads into qualified new sales opportunities.  You will identify potential customers through online and telephone research methods, assess and categorise leads based upon their sales-readiness and fit with our ideal customer profile, and nurture them to a point where they can be proactively provided to our Business Development team. You will also follow up on and develop inbound leads and identify qualified opportunities resulting from marketing activities and campaigns.

As an SDR, you will work closely with both the Business Development and Marketing teams to ensure a clear understanding of the types of prospects who value Horizon’s offering, including their personas, pain points and buying behaviours. Also educating these prospects in the Horizon proposition and developing the opportunity with them, prior to hand-off.



  • Collaborate with the Business Development and Marketing teams to develop new prospects according to ‘best fit’ with Horizon’s established Ideal Customer Profile
  • Leverage our CRM system to pool intelligence and customer insight with the wider team 
  • Be ready and willing to share your successes and challenges with your colleagues and manager 
  • Work flexibly, helping with reasonable ad hoc duties as required

  • Cultivate an in-depth product knowledge
  • Generate new sales leads through outbound calling, email marketing, social media and other relevant channels
  • Follow up on inbound leads and other campaign generated opportunities
  • Profile strategic accounts identifying key individuals, researching and obtaining business requirements and presenting solutions to start the sales cycle
  • Evaluate prospective buyers’ circumstances, behaviours and personas to establish strong correlation with the Horizon Ideal Customer Profile
  • Classify cold leads based on their need, budget and decision-making responsibilities
  • Categorise leads systematically to establish priorities
  • Strive to create positive relationships with prospective customers, nurturing at every stage of their journey (e.g. sending of personalised content) 
  • Make good use of social media platforms to identify and approach prospects
  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing to ensure alignment to current marketing campaigns and strategies
  • Analyse data to ensure best use of time within the lead generation process
  • Report any opportunities and threats to the Head of Marketing or Business Development Managers, escalating concerns and suggestions for improvement
  • Work proactively to gain a good understanding of our markets, potential customers and their pain points
  • Maintain accurate lead status updates in the CRM system

Skills Required

  • Previous experience within a lead generation, SDR or business development role
  • Passionate, driven and determined to deliver excellent results
  • Confident and ready to engage with new prospects with our brilliant proposition
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a friendly telephone manner
  • Natural influencing and persuasion abilities 
  • An ability to read people and their requirements, and respond positively and sensitively 
  • Excellent time management, administration and organisational skills
  • Resilience in the face of adversity
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Tech savvy with a keenness to stay on top of latest industry developments 
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work autonomously, take responsibility and report back on own performance
