Job Purpose

In this key role within the Company, as Workshop Assistant you will be responsible for assisting the Service Team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of a high quality maintenance, repair and inspection service for both Horizon’s own powered access platforms and our customers’ machines. You will assist with the cleaning of the depot facilities, equipment and tools and provide labour services as required, ensuring compliance with health and safety policies and procedures at all times.



  • Work closely with all members of the team to ensure an efficient and professional service
  • Support colleagues through offering assistance and training when needed
  • Communicate effectively with the office team to keep them updated on job progress, providing technical support when required
  • Work flexibly, helping with reasonable ad hoc duties as required

  • Complete all documentation associated with the duties of a semi-skilled labourer to the highest standard, whilst providing any necessary information to other team members and the Service Supervisor and Manager
  • Consistently update own technical knowledge
  • Ensure that company tools, equipment and consumables are kept safe, clean, serviceable, accounted for and returned to their designated location

Outstanding Service:

  • Carry out day to day maintenance and repairs to Horizon Access Platforms as instructed by the relevant team members or supervisors
  • Carry out a range of multi-tasked urgent and minor repairs to Horizon’s access platforms
  • Carry out vehicle checks, required routine maintenance and cleaning, ensuring all repair work is recorded
  • Transport goods, equipment and staff as required
  • Ensure that all communal areas within the facility are kept clean and tidy at all times
  • Carry out garden and landscape maintenance
  • Clean all external windows on a regular basis and to a high standard
  • Keep all yard areas swept and free of debris at all times
  • Ensure a suitable and available machine is on display outside the facility during opening hours
