IPAF DEMONSTRATOR COURSES

The aim of this IPAF training course is to provide candidates with the correct instruction to properly demonstrate the use of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs). This includes pre-use procedures and proper health and safety legislation to ensure safe-use of access platforms.

IPAF DEMONSTRATOR COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, the trainee will be able to carry out the required tasks involved in the role of demonstrator to familiarise operators with their responsibilities and demonstrate pre-operational and safe operating procedure and the limitations of MEWPs.

The demonstrator should know:

  • The pre-use checks and daily maintenance to be carried out prior to commencing work.
  • The correct and safe method of operating the specific machine.
  • The correct emergency procedures, capacities and limitations to enable safe operation.
  • Selection and use of fall protection equipment covering as a minimum anchorage points in platforms, harness standards, explanation of fall arrest, lanyard types, use and correct fitting, rescue procedures, current recommendations [HSE & IPAF H1/05/05].

COURSE CONTENT AND LENGTH:

The IPAF demonstrator training course covers the following:

  • 1-2 days in-person training depending on number of machine categories
  • Introduction
  • MEWP categories
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Operator revision and theory test PASS or FAIL
  • Responsibilities for familiarisation
  • Demonstrator training - Practical preparation
  • Pre-use and function checks
  • Demonstrator theory and practical test PASS or FAIL

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Safety Footwear
  • Hard Hat
  • Hi-Vis Vest/T-shirt/Sweatshirt

What Does An IPAF Demonstrator Course Involve?

The IPAF training course can take up to two days, depending on the categories of access platforms which need to be covered in the training. The course will cover various aspects of MEWP use and functionality, ensuring proper and safe use of the machines. 

The course is ideal for site supervisors and managers as it’s important that they are able to show others how to properly operate MEWPs. Additionally, those who are demonstrating powered access platforms to customers will also need to have taken this course and secured the correct qualification.
