1a: Static Vertical
- A vertical type machine with outriggers which must be deployed before elevating and as a consequence does not drive in the air
- Static MEWP
- Uses outriggers for stability and levelling
- Must be driven into position

1b: Static Boom
- A boom type machine with outriggers which must be deployed before elevating and as a consequence does not drive in the air.
- Available as road going vehicles
- Setup on jacks, outriggers or stabilizers
- Lightweight models available
- Certain models can be pedestrian driven

PAV: Push Around
- Essentially small, simple static vertical machines.
- No mechanical drive and are physically pushed around
- Popular with contractors and the non-construction sector who are using this type of equipment for low-level access work.
